Thanks: Gave 4, Got 0 | Plasterboard trim Help
Guys
I have just fitted a 7ft Owl Elec screen into my ceiling. I have fitted it from above and have only cut a 30mm slot for the screen to drop through.
I bet there are many people who have done the same but i am wondering what have people used around the cut edge of the plaster board to tidy it up ?
My other option is to fit a white plastic trim to the bottom of the screen and have it finishing flush with the ceiling
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ian

you can get white plastic angle that you can cut and stick to the edge to give you a bordered but tidy opening

youre gonna have to bare with me here as i try to explain myself. if you can get a 30mm wide strip of trunking , just use the cover strip and discard the bit you stick to the actual wall. cut it to length with equal excess at both ends, and turn up at the edges at 90 degrees and then drill a hole through the sides excess bits that are at 90 degrees . then drill these into the centre to the end caps on the bottom of your screen. and put a screw through and attach to it, this way when the screen goes up it will remain flush and flat with the ceiling, have done my best to explain it here so hope you get it, let us know how you get along.

I think i will give it a go.
So i take it you have nothing finishing your edges on your plasterboard ?
Also when you screen rolls up does that trim go into the whole in ceiling or does it sit just flush ?
Cheers for advice

Cheers for advice | to be honest , my screen is bare , exposed and Ugly! my home theatre is in the loft so i cant hide the screen in the ceiling, i dont have a ceiling! as for the edge trimming to the plaster board. maybe you could get som thin trunking and line the edges? Wow this trunking has a 101 uses,

I found exactly that today. But to make it look better i found some pvc trim in B&Q which is approx 50mm in width which has a slight angel to it in the middle....bare with me......It also tapers away to less than 1mm thickness.
If i were to fit this to the bottom of the screen when then screen sits flush with the ceiling it would look ace.
The trouble is on this particular trim it had a centre beam which i would have to trim of the back side so i could get a smooth surface to fix to bottom of screen.
I am going to a plastic place tomorrow....fingers crossed.
I have installed the projector today and alot of the wiring.....only just reaches...mm to spare.
I will take pictures when it is up and running
