Which leads fo my home cinema?

Hi all, i have just set up my home cinema, got the universal mount bracket from a guy in the USA, which was only £25 delivered and is fantastic, the original Sanyo one is around £160 last time i looked!

Any way, i just wanted to know what leads will give me the best picture:

1) - Is an S Video lead better or worse then a scart lead?

2) - I have 3 RGB connectors on the back of the projector are these to be used from a scart lead and then use an adaptor to the three leads?

I will try and get pics up when i get the chance!

What will be feeding the PJ? If your DVD player (or processor or scaler) has Component then that will be better than SCART or S-Vid

Get yourself a good set of Component cables from Mark Grant in the Cable Section Power Buys

They can be either. Mark Grant can make the cables with different terminations at each end. Just tell him what you require and you'll get a set that are as good (if not better) than cables costing several times the price

Thanks kenny, i'll contact Mark nearer the time. I will be moving soon and want to get all the fact down, so when i start channeling walls i can put in the right leads!

I had a good look at the projector and it has these connections:

S Video connection
Componet connectors
DVi-i


So in order which is the better connection starting from best to worst?

Well in theory it should be

DV-I
Component
S-Vid

If your DVD player had DV-I then I'd probably go for that. Remember that Sky are launcing their HD service next year and if you have other equipment you want to connect like and X-Box or PS or PC then you might want to think about getting an external scaler like a Lumagen or iScan. Then things get really interesting

Is scart better than s-video?

and what effects will i have if i use a scart one end and the component adapter on the other end of the scart?

I personally don't like SCART but it's hard to avoid them! If you can I'd go for a straight Component to Component as it should give you the best quality picture.

Why do you need the SCART --> Component?

I maybe getting confused, but i don't have component outputs on my DVD player but i do have scart, i thought i could use the scart adapter to get coponents out put? or are is this adaptor for video and sound?

But S-video is better than scart though yes?

I'm sure it can be done although the cables maybe a bit thick for the SCART plug.

In theory a SCART wired for RGB should be better than S-Vid

I see, so ther are different types of scrat leads, this does get confusing. i am guessing there is an RGB Scart and a standard scart lead?

and you can also get SCARTS wire for both picture and sound or only picture......
