best Door for sound

Hi all, What would you recommend as the best door for a home cinema room? I was thinking of just using a glass sliding door with a thick curtain.

It really depends on what style you want and if it needs to match any others in the house.

A solid core firecheck door will be cheap - less than £30, will have some good sound proof qualities, but will have a smooth ply finish.

Your curtain idea seems OK, or a normal door with some cork or other tile/material lining on the HC room side

A fire door would be good for sound proof if you also need that, but a curtain would be fine as well as it will keep the light out.

When i had my room built the door was actually hand made from two sheets of 6mm (or 9mm) mdf and filled with rockwool.

thats the way i went with mine as well, the inner frameof the door was made up of 3x2 so it makes quite a thick door i also routered the edge and installed a smoke seal in both the door and the frame then covered the skin with carpet to match the surrounding walls........... works for me

Mine works really well to, the main reason for doing it was because the cellar door is not a standard size so finding a door to fit was a nightmare.
It was also proving very expensive to get a special made door so we did it ourself, it cost about £30 in total to build.
