best way to connect a wall mounted plasma

i am soon going to be wall mounting my pw7 and a little confused as to which would be the best solution to wire up the power. is it a case of exteding the power cable and then plugging it into the mains or is there a better solution. i have a mains socket below where the plasma is going to be mounted, could i wire it up directly to the mains?
