Audio Video Cables & Quick Drying Cement?

Guys,

I've chased out my concrete floor for cables to my speakers and TV. It's not deep enough to trunk but can I still fill it back in with quick drying cement???

I'm under the impression that it won't damage the cables, Is that true??

Its not a very tidy chase and I dont think its deep enough for both capping and cement???

Will the cement damage the cabling?

Possibly. I have heard that the active ingredient in some cements/fillers/plasters can attack the pvc sheath around cables. I'd check with the manufacturer of whatever your planning on using. From personal experience I have buiried a coax (for a tv) with polyfiller and that's been okay, but other than that I have always used conduits.

Perhaps you could wrap it something first?

I know that when Copper Gas pipes are concreteed into floors. The Copper pipes that are used have a Yellow pvc protecter on them to stop Cement arrosion of the Copper pipe.
So with this in mined I would have thought that it would be alright.

I would chase out a deeper duct and put proper ducting in just for Future proofing
