Daft Question: Re: Surround Sound 5.1 Speakers !

Ok

Here's a stupid question !

I have a Sony DAVSB100 Home Theatre 5.1 Surround kit connected to my tv.

Just a thought re: the front surround speakers that are marked "L" and "R"..

Does this mean that the left speaker for example should be positioned to the television's left - ie if you turn around to face outwards with the screen ... or does it mean to your left as you look at it....

Only, I have my speakers placed left and right as I am looking at it front on and listening to some sound effects, it sounds like they might be the wrong way round !!!!

Can anyone please clarify ??

Sorry again for the silly question, but I would really like to know !!

Cheers

Paul

I had a sneaky feeling this was the case when I could hear sound effects going the wrong way with the picture on screen!

Derrrr !!! I am off to lie down in a dark room and take my medication !!!

Cheers!

The Left & Right speakers should be located to the left and right of the screen as you look at them from your seating position, not from behind the screen.

For clarification Click Here

Definitely agree with LDR. It could well be that they are connected and positioned (attached?) incorrectly - and by switching you've got them the wrong way round?

Try the THX optimode audio tests on Star Wars 1 or 2, or a calibration DVD like Avia to check for certain that you're hearing the right sound from the right speaker
