New construction

I will be starting construction of a Home Cinema soon and would like to record
the progress on the web.
What programme do i need to produce a basic web site, i see a lot of the members here have web sites, and would welcome any advice.

There is plenty of websites offering free webspace but you get a long name with it like. www.myhomecinema.freewebspace.com.

You could try oneandone.co.uk as they are quite cheap and you also get a free version of netobjects which is a very good website building tool and great for beginners, like me. If you can get your hands on a website buildong software then try supanames.co.uk as they are cheaper but you dont get netobjects, think they have an online building software but it wont be up to much. Homestead.com is really good but expensive, there online software is pretty good aswell. Hope this helps.............

I did mine in Microsoft's Frontpage. It came with Office XP but you can find versions of it all over the place. I use Dreamweaver at work and it's very good (i.e. powerful) but FP will do the job. See;

I would say that Dreamweaver is a little heavy for a first time user. Frontpage is pretty easy to start with.

The RTP site is hosted on Yahoo/Geocities, which is good for free.

Page writing is done in SourceTek's SoThink HTML Editor. It very easy to use anhd you can get it in a basic freeware version or pay for the more complex verison if needed, like I have.

That's a difficult one.

I paid around £5k for the Build, as I was lucky enough to find a good but cheap builder/ electrician and plasterer to do it for me. Most of the builders though quoted over £8k. If you have the relevant skills and knowledge then there's about £2,500 - £3,000 worth of materials that went into it so it could cost you as little as that.

The Decoration/Furniture/Carpeting etc came to another £1k.

Finally Projector Mounting/Conduiting/Wiring (spk/video) say £500
