Wood flooring and spikes??

any cheap solutions for the speaker spikes on a wooden floof, dont want to just remove them as the sound changes.

is there a cheap solution.

I put 4 phillips screws into the floor, the head takes the spikes. Okay you may not want to drill the floor, but the spikes will locate positively and not skate around causing more damage. When you move the holes are easily filled with plastic wood. A neat solution I think.

Position your speaker, press down to make small marks that will act as a drilling guide, drill small pilot holes and use small countersunk screws, prabably 1.5cm long, 8 gauge.

Depends what you mean by cheap!

From around 15 quid up you can buy good quality floor protectors at any decent Hi-Fi dealer.

Alternatively, I have heard of people using coins with blu-tack on the floor side!

That's exactly what I did with my Nautilus 803.I drilled coins (very small hole) for the spike to just fit in and underneath I used a square small piece of wood on each spike 4cmx 4cm ( 1.5 inch approx.) just to make sure nothing happens on my wooden floor.

Cheap? try a penny under each spike!

Pennies are what I used. Just bang a nail into the centre of the penny, not enough to go through but enough to make a small dent that the spike can sit in.

nice...one. its just the wood floors are so popular now, I no others would have had the same problem........ 2p and blue tack is best then? bet the hifi shops chare loads .

If you were worried about legalities, you could use a foreign coinage rather than commit the offence of "defacing a coin of the realm".
