We're finally getting the house sorted. 3 bedroom semi detached. We've got a basic idea of what we want but I'm basically trying to get some specifics sorted.
Getting the oak skirting ripped out completely on ground floor. Covered in 3 layers of paint and as I want the flooring fitted with no beading there is no other way. Wouldn't mind them being sanded down but we're also relocating all sockets which for some reason are fitted in the skirting boards. We won't be able to put them back on as they end up cracking when taken off.
Walls being plastered, ledges sanded down, front room will become one with back room and kitchen (two walls knocked through). We are still considering getting some French doors in a floating wall due to sound issues from the kitchen. Back room door will be covered up.
Kitchen doors being replacing and ceiling put in as well as new worktop surface, splash back, floor and sink.
All doors being replaced. I wanted to sand the old doors down but there is an issue as one of the doors upstairs is different. The handles are also higher up than I would like and I would them lightly lower down.
This is without considering av requirements.
I want to be able to stream music into the kitchen and downstairs living room from my pc. I would also like to do the same for my films using my pc upstairs as a nas.
I'm guessing having some cat5 in the skirting would be a good idea along with some coax for my virgin moem with is currently stapled above the skirting. I'm just not sure of where sockets should go and how many runs are needed ect.
I'll also need some speaker cable for a future 5.1 setup in the front living room and will probably have a hole in the chimney for a plasma when my CRT finally dies. main problem with this is that the chimney is slightly in front of the living room door so the lcd would have to be at and angle. Obviously this wouldn't be ideal for the surround sound I'm guessing.
Idealy I would like the kitchen to have a speaker built in to the ceiling and able to play dab radio and have access to my music collection.
I'm not sure but any suggestions ideals would be very welcome as I just need to get an idea of what I want specifically.
