Back in BLACK...

I am wondering if anyone out there in AV land (and has a dedicated room) have gone the full hog and painted the walls black?

It's decorate time and looking at the paint work in my Movie room I am going to go darker to get better picture clarity and definition. This will include the walls and ceiling and I am umming and arring whether to to take the plunge and go matt black.

The wife is OK for it...either that or deep red, but I am wondering if I dare go ALL black. My biggest headache is that I have quite a large window in the room (see build below) so that lets most light in (oh I wish I could brick it up!!) so I have to work that into my design.

Paint colour suggestions and/or examples would grateful!

Re: Back in BLACK...

All black for me; walls, ceiling, and carpet

Cinema seats are in blue (ebay, no colour choice), and I haven't got around to painting a few MDF cupboard doors black, but the picture seems awesome to me. That might be because it's 10' wide, but my guess is the black is helping.

Not sure I'd get away with it elsewhere in the house, but as I converted the loft for the 'cinema' it didn't matter what colour I painted it.

Good luck.

Re: Back in BLACK...

I am thinking of changing my colour scheme to something like this the contrasting section - Night Jewels 1 and Velvet Truffle 4 or the harmonsing section - Night Jewels 1 and Rum Caramel 4.

Currently where the brown suede is i will do that in NJ 1 and where the Ivory suede is i will do that i VT 4. I will have to recover the settee though in black but i dont want to change the carpet hence i am hoping the VT 4 will jind of match that. I plan to paint over the suede but hopefully keep the texture as it is a great light dispersion texture.

So you could do a contrast if you dont want a batcave.

Thanks Inzaman. I was trying for the contrast side of things initially but it ended up too light...Looking at the Rum Caramel and Velvet Truffle I still think it may be too light However the Rum Caramel 1 and 2 may be an option!

I currently have white skirting, does anyone think I should go with that too?
