My Flase Chimney Over Real Chimney Project

I bought a house with my partner a few months back and i have finally got around to sorting the lounge. I have seen some nice setups on this site over the years and really liked the idea of a false chimney breast however the lounge already has a real one and the missus put her foot firmly down with regards to taking it out (incase of future use), so the only option i have is to build over it. I didnt really like the idea as i think it brings the breast to far out but it dosent look to bad thus far. It is going to take a few more weeks as i have loads of other stuff to do around the house as it has been a complete renovation. I still have loads to do to it, but cables are in place and some of the stud has been put in place.

Front and centre speakers will be recessed along with the Plasma the rears are mounted pretty high due to the shape of the room. So far i have these wried 3 X cat5e, 2 X Sat Coax, 1 X Cable Coax,
2 X Hdmi. I wanted to get the sat and cable coax in due sky and virgin just throwing cables around doorways etc. There will be no cables on show at all...

Equipment:

50" Panasonic TH50PZ80B
Q Acoustic 1010i 6.1
Onkyo 606
Popcorn Hour A-110
Xbox 360 Elite & HD DVD

Before:

Just starting:

This is where my equipment will be going, opposite wall from the TV:

This section was where the previous owner decided to build about a 3ft extension on the house and left part of the load bearing wall in leaving a wasted space, luckly my amp just fit in (bigges piece of equipment) by 2mm each side.

More to follow over the new few weeks.

Re: My Flase Chimney Over Real Chimney Project

A little update, had it plastered and sockets are fitted for the equipment. There is still a fair bit to do but i am in the middle of digging a new water main at the min. I need to stud out the back and use some ply wood to bring the TV flush with the front and a socket still needs to be fitted behind the set...
