Fitting Projector and Screen to the ceiling

Hi,

How have you fitted your PJ and screen to the ceiling?

I have a double thickness plasterboard ceiling (it was re-boarded and re-skimmed).

Trouble is I don't think that where I have to position the screen and projector there is a joist to screw into. Would they be ok if I used those metal plasterboard raw plugs?

PJ I am looking at is 7.5Kg I believe. Not sure how heavy the screen will be, but I'm guessing it will be quite heavy.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Fitting Projector and Screen to the ceiling

Hi Simon

It's not just the weight but the force of pulling the screen up and down, so I would play it safe and unless you can mount directly into joists I would either:
- first mount a wood plate securely to the joists, then mount the screen to the plate, or
- if you have access upstairs and can lift the floorboards add noggin between the joists where you need to mount.

If in doubt call the manufacturers of the PJ and screen and they can advise - I did this as my PJ is 19kg and wanted reassurance that two screws was going to be enough. Vogels were very helpful.

Hope this helps
