Room too small?

I have an empty spare room which I could use for a dedicated home cinema room, but I'm thinking it is probably too small to make it worth doing. The room is square, 2.7m x 2.5m. I have a 42" plasma in the living room so I would want the display to be bigger than this, but with these room dimensions I'm not sure that would be wise. Any thoughts?

Re: Room too small?

At the risk of answering my own question, I had a quick search around for suggested viewing distances and using 1.5xwidth for a 60" TV (1.4m wide) gives a distance of 2.1m, which is what I have so maybe it isn't such a crazy idea. However, I still have a feeling the room is too small and maybe if I were to do this a 50" TV would be more suitable.

This is what a 60" TV looks like in Sketchup:

Re: Room too small?

A 60" should be fine Stephen

infact after a day or so you`ll be thinking "I should have got an 100" "

Re: Room too small?

Hi

60" would look great, just don't over do it with the surround sound if you are putting in 5.1.

You could get an all in one BR 5.1 now which would be fine for that size.

Re: Room too small?

Thanks guys, I am now convinced to go for the 60"

I was thinking Blu-ray all-in-one for the sourround sound too.
