fill in windows with insulation to make soundproof/lightproof room

i'd like to fill in the 2 windows in the cinema room to make it completely dark and reduce traffic noise as much as possible, would choosing a soundproofing specific material to fill them in with yield a perceivable improvement? or would any cheap heat insulation material do just as much? (will be approx 8 inches of the stuff and then a false wall which could also be a soundproofing material if required)
would i still hear the traffic outside? would using a better (but not expensive) material make it silent?

8 inches of loose filled insulation should do the trick then a couple of layers of plasterboard.

Not a very expensive job either to see if it works.

I`d try to seal any joints with a sealing mastic first before plastering.

Have you still got a way out incase of fire though, it might be an idea to think about first.

a very good point that i did not think of, thanks, all the more reason to get a CO2 fire extinguisher
will be sure to make it so that if there is a fire and both doors are blocked the wall can be pulled down to jump out the window

would it be worth getting a piece of plasterboard the size of the hole in the wall to fill in and seal around with acoustic caulk? behind the piece that covers the whole wall to make the projector wall (are there some materials better than others for projector screens?)
