I have had a good look around forum but found it quite daunting as I'm no tech wiz and there's soooo much to consider. I am at the construction stage ie ready to strip out room etc (luckily have people to do all building work but Im not so fortunate on the installation etc. My room is 3.3 wide (screen on this) and 3.6 long with a ceiling hgt of 2.4.
I fancied going down the stealth rout by using a stud wall covered in acoustic transparant material with a drop down screen in front.
I have a few! questions regarding the installation of new HC. Hope someone can answer some of my questions.
1.What size of screen can i use with projector ie no point in massive screen if projector cant fill it?
2. What is the best height for the screen?
3. What size of speakers should I buy? I want them to be hidden in wall and in ceiling.
4. I assume the AV housing cabinet holds all hardware save for projector? Am I correct in assuming that any type of cabinet needs ventilation?
5. What depth will my false wall need to be, obviously the thinner the better as I wont lose room space?
6. Can you reccommend a good screen, projector, amp?
7. I have only had DVD player before and heard some say PS3 is good enough? I am correct in thinking that the PS3 will play all my old dvd's and pardon my ignorance but what exactly is the main advantage of blue ray?
8. I have no idea where to buy or how to stretch the acoustic material for the wall?
9. What is the best way of holding running cables do they need to be in a conduit or just loose? I am hoping to hide all within ceiling and in wall.
10. I heard you should keep speaker cables separate from any power cables? does this go for all connection cables?
11. Finally I would love to have a server for movies but it out of the question at the mo, how do I make sure I can future proof my install to inc this in say12 months time?
I dont want to spend a fortune on the gear but have no idea whats good and whats bad in the way of hardware
