Problems with Sony BDPS760 & Onkyo TSXR507 HELP

I connected my set up on Saturday and all was going well until I tried the Blue Ray player through the AV Receiver. I got what looked like plain noise on the screen with audio. However there was colour to the noise and there was some faint vertical and horizontal lines. I tried different disks and cables, but it did not work. I then connected it directly to the TV and the picture is fine.
Is there a setting on either piece of kit that could generate this

It sounds like a fault on the amp to me.

Progress.
I put the Sony back to the default settings and the Auto Setting on the Video out (HDMI). However, I now get the telly (Panasonic 42G10) shows that the input is now a maximum of 576 (I think) As soon as you force the Blue Ray to put out 1080p it loses the picture. Even when running a Blue Ray disk I was getting very low res.
I thought the Onkyo would allow 1080p through. If not, it seems useless for the Blue Ray player and 1080p TV.
A I missing something????

Do you have other cables to try? I know it works direct but it could be either the amp or the cables. I would also search within the Onkyo owner's forum to see if anyone else has had 1080p passthrough issues with the 507.

I have used 3 HDMI cables and all work directly to the TV.
I have put a post on the Onkyo specific thread, but no takers yet
I have also mailed Onkyo direct, so may get a respone.
Thanks
