Blu-ray & Surround Sound Question

After buying the a rather nice 1080p HD LG TV (LG32LH5000) last week, my Sony DVD player has now decided to give up playing DVD's

Rather than replacing it, I am looking at getting a Blu-Ray player and making the most of my HD TV.

However, I have a few daft questions.....

My Sony DVD system (DAV-SB300) is a 5.1 system with DTS etc, and after I upgraded the speaker cable to Monster THX stuff, I really like the sound I get out of it. Unfortunately, it does not have any optical / digital inputs at all. Only 2 X phono sockets (that I plug my ipod and Virgin media box through). Now, apart from it not playing DVD's the system works really well, and the speakers and cables are in great condition.

How can I go about connecting my new Blu-Ray system up to it?

Do I need to buy a Blu-Ray surround system (Well, I can;t actually so that is a no go) or is there some other way?

Sorry for the dumb questions!

The sound from the LG TV is really decent, but if I buy a Blu Ray player (looking at the LG370) I take it I will just have to use the TV speakers for the sound unless I fork out for an amp (again not really an option as I've just had to buy the TV last week!?!)

Comments appreciated.....

Well that model Blu ray player has a 2 channel audio out so you should be able to connect it up to your amp but you won't get 5.1 audio through that.
