Trying to encourage Samsung TV and Home cinema to talk to each other

Hi Everyone
I have a situation that I hope someone may be able to help me with.
So here’s the history....

I have a Samsung HT-710 Home Cinema System that was set up by someone else. It was connected to TV and Virgin box. Everything worked as it should with minimum fuss.

I had a Samsung LE37B551A 37” LCD TV delivered Wednesday and I paid for it to be set up (no ‘someone else’ around to do it just now!!) I was told that the set up could not be completed as I was upgrading my Virgin box to a Virgin+ HD box, but it wasn’t arriving until the Saturday.
The Virgin guy came and installed the V+ box, connected everything up and it all seemed to be just hunky-dory.
However, each time I switch on the TV and Home Cinema I now have to play the ‘Remote Control Dance’!!
1. Switch on TV with TV remote
2. Switch on HC with HC remote
3. The TV comes on on HDMI 2 source
4. The HC comes on on Aux2
5. Suddenly the HC switches back to trying to load a DVD; the TV switches source from HDMI2 to TV and a window pops up telling me that Anynet+ is disconnecting (?)
6. Change the HC to Aux2 with the HC remote
7. Change the TV source to HDMI 2 with TV remote
8. Use Virgin remote to change TV channels
9. Use HC remote to alter volume
10 Flop exhausted onto sofa with large glass of wine and all 3 remotes close at hand!!

So my questions are:
1. Can I reduce the number of remotes I use and how would I do this?
2. Can I stop the HC changing back from Aux 2 to trying to load a DVD by itself each time I switch it on (it never used to do this)?
3. Can I stop the TV swapping sources from HDMI 2 to TV each time I switch it on?

Thank you for taking the time to read all this and I’m sure you’ve already gathered that technology is not my thing!!

Try turning the HDMI CEC funtions off (Anynet, probably).

A universal remote e.g. Logitech Harmony remote would simplify your setup no end and by pressing one button e.g. 'Watch Cable', 'Watch DVD' it will turn on the relevant equipment and select the correct inputs as well as getting rid of your coffee table clutter.

Hi Dave

Thanks for replying. Your suggestion sounds like the solution I need with regards to remote juggling!

I don't suppose you'd have an idea about my home cinema would you? I switch it on and it is on Aux 2 but as soon as I switch on the TV, the home cinema flips to trying to load a dvd and I need to manually return it back to Aux 2.

Thanks again for your advice. Sally

So simple but i missed it... Have been trying to configure my Harmony remote with my samsung LCD and samsung HT but the amp kept switching on and off etc. I will try turning Anynet off.
