Connecting HDMI to PC monitor, need sound

What i'm looking for is the simplest / small footprint method to get sound when displaying video from a HDMI source on a PC monitor.

More info: Basically i have 3 HDMI devices (PC, Xbox360, PS3) and 3 displays (2 x TV, 1 x PC monitor). With a matrix type HDMI switch i can pick what input is going to which output except no audio at the PC if the source is one of the other devices.

I know i can get a HDMI splitter and connect to a receiver but i don't want to add clutter to the system so some type of small device would be preferred. Something you could plug HDMI into that would output a stereo analog signal would be optimal for my needs but i have not come across anything like that.

Thanks for any info you can share,

Ken

As long as your Sources are set to video + 2.0 LPCM (stereo audio) this will do the trick - Media Factory - Octava HDDA11-UK, HDMI to HDMI + Stereo audio converter

Re: Connecting HDMI to PC monitor, need sound

Thanks for the quick response. That does look like it would work out for what i need. I should not have an issue with audio format as i'm not going for surround sound in any of these rooms.

I did one more search after posting here and found something i missed before. It is cheaper but is not a pass through device so i would have to get a spitter as well. Converts to component 5x rca type and i could just ignore the 3 for the video.

HDMI to 5 RCA Component AV Converter

I like the look of what you sent me though so i'll probably go with that. Thanks again.

Re: Connecting HDMI to PC monitor, need sound

That HDMI>YUV+Stereo device will likely not work as it will fall over if the source signal is HDCP encrypted!

There are HDMI>YUV+Stereo devices that can 'deal' with HDCP but that's adding in a complexity you might want to avoid

Media Factory - Vision HDMI to Component converter
