HDMI to DVI adapter vs component over long cable runs

Hi

I should be receiving my Popcorn Hour C-200 next week and want some advice on how best to hook it up to my projector.

My Hitachi PJ-TX100 projector has DVI-D, component (RCA), S-video, composite video and VGA inputs. It is most likely to be around 11m away from my PCH C-200, which supports HDMI, component, Svideo output.

Which type of connection should I be using?
Is HDMI to DVI possible? Will the 11m run to the projector make a difference?

Re: HDMI to DVI adapter vs component over long cable runs

HDMI to DVI-D is possible as long as A. the DVI Input is HDCP compliant and B. the DVI Input works at your preferred resolution/refresh rate (1080i60, 1080i50, 1080p60 etc).

11m can be a challenge for some Source + Cable + Sync (Projector) combinations but not impossible with a decent gauge of cable.

I'd suggest you install an HDMI>HDMI cable + HDMI to DVI adapter as your next projector is likely to be HDMI equipped.

Re: HDMI to DVI adapter vs component over long cable runs

Tx for the info.

The Hitachi manual doesn't mention about HDCP compliance for the DVI input. Will have to try out their customer services on that one ...
I've no idea which resolution/refresh rate I need. The C-200 docs say that it has HDMI 720p60, 1080i60 & 1080p60. Another one for CS I guess.

How would I know that a certain HDMI cable would be better (thicker?) than others?
