Setup help!

Hi all,

I am intending purchasing a panasonic TXP42 TV and the Panasonic SCBT200 blu-ray cinema system. I already have BT Vision (although will prob get Sky HD soon). I am assuming the best way to connect will be:

Cinema --- >HDMI---->TV

BT Vision ---->HDMI----->TV

The Vision box doesn't have an optical connection, so i am assuming I will connect it to the Cinema system by a coaxial cable?

Many thanks for any advice.

Re: Setup help!

According to this site the BT Vision has optical out. LINK. Check your box to confirm. I don't know anything about BT Vision, my brother has it but I'm afraid he doesn't know his optical from his elbow. The SCBT200 has 2 x optical inputs but no digi-coax inputs. I would always recommend separates over an all-in-one type setup but I can see their appeal.

Re: Setup help!

Thanks Dave,

is that the SPDIF socket? Is that only for Sony or Philips systems? Sorry for my ignorance on these issues.

Re: Setup help!

So will my cable setup above, including the optical cable from BTV to cinema system be the best setup?

Re: Setup help!

Yes, it should be the best setup. I'm not familiar with the BT Vision setup so don't know how much DD programming is shown. You might have to go into the audio settings to get it to output Dolby D. You do on Sky. Have a look and if you are stuck, do a search there will be a BT vision thread or two somewhere on the site.
