Connecting PS3, Humax HDR, Panasonic Tv and Sony DVD Surround

I have just purchased a PS3 and am wondering how I am going to manage to have surround sound when using it.

My tv is only has 2 hdmi. I think I need to buy a HDMI switch as I think I need 3 hdmi connections, one for the ps3, humax hdr and dvd / surround system. I think that I probably also need an optical switch so that I can connect the PS3 and humax HDR box to the surround sound system?

Any advice as to the optimum set-up for my devices would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Simon

If you aren't going to use the DVD player in the surround sound, don't bother connecting it to the TV. Just use it for audio only or use a lesser connection e.g. Component video (green/red/blue RCA) or SCART (set to RGB in the picture settings menu). If it only has one optical input, you will need a 3 way manual optical switch or toslink splitter.

I will definitely be using the DVD as I receive a better picture than if playing it in the PS3. I really want to use HDMI to connect the DVD/Surround to the TV so does that mean I will need HDMI switch as well.

Yes. I'm surprised as the PS3 is a pretty good upscaler.

I am sure it is, but I think the Sony is just excellent.

Whoops, upscaling wasn't switched on. Looks like it defaults to off! Anyway have switched it on and it does look good, although still a little unsure if it is as good as the Sony DVD player.
