Linking LG stuff together

Hi, I've just bought an LG HT304SU (home cinema in a box) and an LG RHT497H (HDD freeview recorder). I was hoping to hook the HDD recorder into the cinema receiver so I could play recorded stuff through the speakers, but there are only sound inputs on the receiver. I can connect both to the TV though. If I play stuff off the recorder is there a way to get the sound through the speakers?
I think, from reading other posts on here, that the stuff I record won't be proper digital anyway but it would be nice to have the extra volume.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Linking LG stuff together

The LG website says that the HT304SU has an AUX input, but no digital inputs. This means it should have a standard pair of phono inputs on the sound system which will give you stereo audio.

Check your TV to see if it has a pair of phono audio outputs. If it does connect the TV to the sound system this way. As well as audio from the TV's built-in tuner, the TV will also passthrough audio from any other devices you have connected to it such as your recorder.

My only concern is that LG TVs tend to only have digital optical outputs for audio - not analogue. If your TV is also an LG, you will have to try something else.

Re: Linking LG stuff together

Thanks for the prompt reply. You are right about the outputs from the TV (it is LG) but I have got the audio going from the HDD recorder to the cinema box which means I can play recordings or live TV but not record at the same time, if that makes sense. Just need to get some longer speaker cables and work out how to stop the remotes from clashing.
