Hi all,

The story:

Philips 42PF7621D 42" LCD
JVC TH-S55 surround sounds / DVD player
Sky+

The dvd and Sky are connected to a multi scart socket into 1 scart on the tv.

This means that the surround can play the Sky sound (through it's "Play TV Sound" option).

I noticed my Philips 42PF7621D has a USB socket. I plugged in a pen, and it's offered to display Photos, Music or Video. The first two work perfectly, but no luck in getting Video to work.

I searched on the Philips website, and downloaded and installed the latest firmware. Which validated and installed fine!

But, on resetting the TV, all I can get from the surround sound is static.
I've tried everything I can - nothing has been moved, so all I can think is the firmware has somehow affected the surround sound - despite, as far as I can see, the TV cannot affect the sky and surround sound!

Any ideas would be amazing!

Contact Phillips first. Check cables. Connect direct from sky box and don't bother with the TV to see if the fault is still there. Does the static/crackling occur during DVD playback?

Does the TV allow you to select between audio outputs? Is it possible that its trying to output to the wrong connection?
