Question Help Building IR or preferably RF sensor device

I have an anamorphic lens that is mounted on a motorized sled with 12v Trigger input. When I turn on the sled, lens moves out of the way to OFF position. I want the lens to move back in when I engage "VERTICAL STRETCH" feature of my video processor / projector. "VERTICAL STRETCH" is one of the menu options on the video processor and projector. How could I add IR/RF capability to motorized sled? Sled DOES NOT has an IR sensor input. I wonder if I could build IR/RF receiver/decoder which could somehow engage/activate the 12v trigger input on the sled when I pass the discreet IR code for "VERTICAL STRETCH" to the projector or video processor causing the anamorphic lens to move in place. Disengaging the "VERTICAL STRETCH" on video processor should move out the lens to its OFF position (by triggering the sled). How difficult would It be? any ideas?
I greatly appreciate any insight.
Thanks,
Satbir
