Sony bravia dvd sync with Sony Bravia tv

I have a Sony KDL 32xbra and a Sony DVP-NS710H (Bravia compatible.) The TV has three HDMI outlets. #1 is used for my cable box. When I run an HDMI connector from my Sony DVD player to my tv here's what happens. If I plug the dvd into HDMI outlet 2 it defaults to HDMI 3. If I plug the dvd into HDMI Outlet 3 it defaults to HDMI 2. Anytime I go from pause to play after manually setting the proper HDMI for viewing, it defaults according to the above, this necessitates a lot of unnecessary resetting during a viewing. The same is true for any of the functions on the remote. Pushing one almost always causes the dvd to default to the improper HDMI outlet on the TV. I believe I have tried every conceivable option. Also, when you push display to try to go through the set up process, it defaults to the wrong outlet and so there is no access.
Any help will be appreciated.
Richard
