Help with Onkyo TX-SR307

Hi ladies and gents.Can someone please help.This afternoon my wife has bought me the Onkyo 307 and matching speakers. i want some advice on how best to connect it all up.I have a Sammy 40 inch hd tv, Sky HD,my 307, and a PS3.I know it may not be the best,but we have all got to start somewhere.Would i gain any benefit from upgrading my speaker cables,and lastly any idea what i should have the sub set on.If any one could advise me i would be very grateful.
