I WOULD LIKE TO INSTALL A BLUE RAY PLAYER I HAVE LOOKED AT THE TEVION 1100UK CURRENTLY £89.99 AT ALDI ( WHICH CAN BE MADE MULTI REGION WITH REMOTE HACK) OR THE LG 350BD WHICH I CAN GET FOR £119.99 MULTI REGION. I WOULD LIKE TO INSTALL SURROUND SOUND SPEAKERS PREFERABLY WITH WIRELESS BACK SPEAKERS.

Hi Tecty, which part are you confused about as you seem to know what you want?

Do you want recommendations for the audio side? If so what's your budget for that?

Re: Help!!!!! Very confused

If you're buying a bluray player, I wouldn't bother with an all-in-one system with built-in DVD player. After all, you won't use the DVD side. Bluray is capable of outputting HD (lossless) audio over HDMI. These cost consdierably more than the £90 system at Aldi e.g Sony systems at £320. I will not go into why I would not buy it. You're on an AV Forum, so you should be able to guess! but whatever you buy should have a digital audio input so you can get discrete multi-channel surround sound. Basically look for optical and digitcal-coax inputs as a minimum. This won't get you HD lossless audio as these connections lack the necessary bandwidth but will be 90% of the way there. If your proposed system has analogue audio inputs (it may well lack inputs full stop) all you will get is a pseudo effect, which is not true surround sound. Up to you mate, but I would stick to buying groceries only from Aldi

PS Welcom to the forum. Using capitals (CAPS) is considered shouting by the way.

Edit - Everyone seems to want wireless rear speakers but they're never truly wireless as they need power. You can get discrete cable or conduit for hiding cable eg. dline

Re: Help!!!!! Very confused

The bluray player will connect to the TV player and amp (output). The same goes for the cable box. The cable box will have no inputs other than perhaps SCART for passthrough. This is not applicable. Don't get confused with inputs and outputs.

Bluray is capable of outputing HD lossless audio over HDMI (digital) and multi-channel analogue. Check the AV receivers forum and also highdefdigest for details on HD audio formats (DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD). If you use optical or digital coax digital outputs, you will be limited to the older lossy formats e.g. Dolby Digital or DTS.

The minimum you should look for is optical and digi-coax inputs depending on what your bluray player and cable box output. Most all-in-one (home cinema in a box) systems lack digital inputs and often just have one. Therefore to share this single input, you would need to add a switch of some description. I am not familar with the LG system you mentioned and even less so the other system. If an all-in-one is what you want, I would suggest visiting the relevant forum. Personally I wouldn't bother as they're designed to be used with their built in DVD player and any external connections are an after though and would look at a separate AV Receiver and speakers (or one of the Sony home cinema systems e.g. HT-SS100 at around £320).

Separates are the way to go though but cost more.
