Hi
Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this, so apologies if not. And apologies if this has already been asked I did search (a lot) :/
I have a Belkin mains filter / surge protector (
Belkin AV Isolator Home Cinema Surge Protector, 8: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo).
I'm happy with the slight improvement to quality, however, I'm very concious of all the energy that my system is burning in standby. I've also just had my Kef sub woofer start the dreaded buzzing sound. I'm getting new caps for this today to try and repair it, but as a result of looking into the problems associated with the sub, I see that the standby feature isn't really standby and Kef recommend that it is turned off when not in use.
I'm going get one of those clever energy saving multisockets for all my kit (similar to the intellipanel that I use on my PCs), but I'm not sure if I can use it with my Belkin mains conditioner.
Do I plug the energy saver multi socket into the the highest level filter on the Belkin, and if so, will I lose all the benefits of the mains filtration and cleaner signal that each individually filtered socket on the Belkin provides as the signal will now be going through the energy saving multi strip after its filtered?
Or ,do I plug the whole Belkin unit into one of the sockets on the energy saver sockets and then have to lose the ability to have it all filtered (the Sky HD needs to be on 24/7). If I go for one of the intelligent energy savers, one of the sockets needs to be a 'monitored' socket which when a change in current is detected it switches power to all the other components. As this monitored socket will be my AV amp, I am going to lose filtration on either my Amp or on all my other kit, using this method.
Been searching a lot on this and there is a bewildering array of products out there, but nothing that meets all my needs (as far as I can tell), and no specific advice.
Any ideas?????
Also, would you guys recommend a remotely switched energy saver (either by direct switch or remote) or a auto sensing device (like my PC intellipanel).
Thanks in advance
