Help Required for 1080p/DolbyD set-up

Hi

Please can someone help me with the below?

Ive recently purchased a new Toshiba 1080p tv (RV635), and although im chuffed to bits with it, im having problems setting everything up correctly.

Equiptment:-

Toshiba RV635
Onkyo 506
Xbox HDMI (non elite)
SKY+

The problem ive got is that I cant seem to run my xbox at 1080p and have Dolby Digital through my AV amp, as the ONKYO 506 has HDMI in, but only carries picture and not audio. So when I run HDMI from xbox to amp im getting perfect 1080p picture but with no Dolby Digital.

Ive had to use the old componant leads to connect xbox to tv (resulting in 1080i picture) just to allow me to use the optical converter on the componant lead allowing me to get dolby digital sound.

Now forgive me for my ingorance but ive got a fairly upto date tv, an old ish amp and an xbox, surely there must be a way that I can connect these componants together and get full 1080P and Dolby Digital?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly received as I really want to optimise the equiptment ive got,

Thanks for your help!

I think you need a separate audio connector that fits into the AV output on your Xbox, these originally came with the elite so that you could use HDMI with optical out. I have an elite and a 60GB Xbox, the elite had one included in the box but the 60GB HDMI xbox didn't.

There is a workaround that you should be able to find on the internet that involves you removing the plastic casing on the component lead that you are using, this will enable you to use both the component lead purely for the optical out and also allow you the room to use your HDMI lead.

Hope this helps.
