| Can I get Surround sound without an Optical Cable?
I am really confused with my current system!
I have a Sony KDL 40V4000 Tv, Sony BDPS350 Blu-ray Disc Player and an LG HT 302 SD Audio Home System and a Sky + box. At the moment they are all hooked up together but the sound is only coming out of 3 speakers. The rear right and left are not working at all, neither is the subwoofer.
At present, the Blu Ray player and the sky plus box are hooked up to the TV (the Blu Ray via HDMI and the Sky Plus also via HDMI).
The TV then connects to the LG through the white and red audio cables. The LG is an old system and does NOT have an optical input anywhere (leaving me with an optical cable and no idea what to do with it!)
I posted something similar on here months ago, before I bought the Blu Ray player, but I never quite got it sorted. I am intending to upgrade my system and buy an amp and some speakers in the next few months (maybe Christmas sales?) and have had some good advice on that already.
I just wondered if there was a way of hooking up what I have so that I can at least make use of all 5 speakers (6 with the subwoofer). It may not be ideal, but it's be better than nothing.
Although, as I say, the connections for the LG system are limited - no HDMI or Optical, only SCART and the red and white cable connections. So maybe it is not possible, I am not sure.
Any ideas?
