Connecting Wii to Yamaha RX-V565

Hi Guys,

Recently bought a Yamaha RX-V565 and am trying to successfully connect my WII to it but can't do it.

I am using a WII component cable with seperate audio so in total have five connectors.

I can get a picture on one input on the amp and sound on another but can't seem to find where to connect cable to get both working.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks.

What connection are you using to output to a monitor?

Re: Connecting Wii to Yamaha RX-V565

I would take the video connection straight to source TBH as it does not look like the unit will take component and phono and regard it as one input, Pretty sure it will do component with optical, and also coax though, Although thats of no use regarding the wii

what about using the composite connections instead? Or is saying something like that liable to get me banned from the forum

I'm having the same problem. Doesn't the receiver have some kind of option to take a video signal from one output and the audio signal from a different one? I have an older Yamaha receiver and just got a 565, but I'm pretty sure the old one had that option.

Alternatively, is there some way to take the RCA audio output and convert it to a digital coaxial signal? The input has component video and coaxial audio, so a converter may be viable.

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I got it. There's an addendum to the manual on Yamaha's site.

Connect Wii to Yamaha Receiver RX-V565

I have a RX-V565 and use a component cable that has 5 leads, 3 for video and 2 for audio.
3 video leads connected to AV1
2 Audio leads connected to Audio1

From the remote, select Audio1
Press Options button
Set Video Out to AV1 (or whatever input you have selected)

When you play Wii, select Audio1 and you will see the picture and hear sound.
