| Re: Sony HDX995 to SKY HD Help needed please.
I've just downloaded and skimmed through the manual for this DVD recorder - there is no mention anywhere in it of being able to control a Sky box. It does mention Guideplus being able to work with generic satellite boxes - but only from the point of view of you setting your satellite box to the channel that you want to record, connecting it to the DVD recorder, and either pressing record when the programme starts, or manually setting the timer to start recording when the programme you want to transfer to DVD is about to start. Which is what you would do with a DVD recorder which didn't support Guideplus.
It is unlikely to be able to access Sky's EPG - I don't know of any external hard drive/DVD recorder which can offer you Sky's EPG and allow you to record from that. Sky wouldn't allow any DVD manufacturer to be able to do it - they have spent a lot of time and money in developing their EPG, they won't just let anybody copy it. Freesat boxes may. The DVDR wouldn't be able to make the Sky box switch satellite channels anyway. Your best bet is to record to the Sky+ HD hard drive, then, at a later date, archive from the Sky hard drive to your Sony's hard drive (and ultimately to DVD disc) - in which case, you won't be using Guideplus at all.
