My loft conversion`09 - updated 20/5/09

Hello,
New to posting but been reading here for a few month now.

i`ll be updating this as i go but this is where i`l up to.

Since we moved into our home I’ve always wanted to convert my loft and after finding this site and reading a lot of posts on loft conversions I have set out to do mine!
I will be undertaking most of the work myself, and this will be a project over the next few months (although I don’t have a dead line)
Like most money is tight, but I want to do thing as professionally as possible (gulp)

So what’s my plan! Well it tends to change from week to week but I’m going to have an office area on one side and on the other will be a home cinema ect.

First off was to open up the tiny loft hatch
Before

After

real nightmare up there lots of mess - this was taken after i got rid of lots & lots of rubbish!

Before i undertook any work i had a velux window fitted, ovs to give me some natural light while working and freash air to breath!

using 6x2`s and 7x2`s i started to lay the new suspended floor

Some insulation

Me and my clones in action

So half of the loft is now insulated and boarded over

hoping to have a clean up there tomorrow and will post more photos will also post up my plans

Hi Wayno,

Some great progress there, I know the pain of laying joists and insulation (got another weekend of it coming up).

Have you made any plans for insulating the walls/ceiling? Check out my thread for some great input from other members if you you're stuck.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Rob

Re: My loft conversion`09

Hi Wayne

great project you`ve got their, I did one about 27 years ago in a terrace we lived in and it transformed the house as I`m certain yours will.

Think about cable runs mate at this point, those roof voids will be very good at running speaker/HDMI and wotnot.

keep it up and loads of pics please

cheers Al
