Extension and new DIY multi-room install

I have a home cinema and media cabinet and now plan distrubute this to other parts of the house in particular the new living room and kitchen.

But I thought it may be useful to people to show how useful it is using sketchup when planning layout etc when we did our extension. Really found it useful when planning kitchen layout.

Our home before

Plans
I used sketchup to plan our side extension on the right hand side of the house. (Extension above the garage to follow at a later date).
This sketchup plans helped with the architect plans and vice-versa.

Overview of the extension and exisiting part of the house using sketchup

Exterior front extension

Exterior rear extension

Kitchen (front extension)

Living room (rear extension)

Execution

more to follow... building works, cables and some of the av stuff !

Free version.

The renders that look really nice (with light effects etc) use a rendering engine though called Kerkythea which can be exported to from sketchup. This just adds the polish to the hard work done in Sketchup. Rendering can be slow.

Other free rendering engines available too like podium etc. Bit of a learning curve but good fun IMO.

Porcelain.. style is french limestone, size is 80 by 40cm.

I'll get some better shots of it as you cannot really see it with the light.

Very impressive! Kitchen looks amazing

I looks forward to reading about what you've put into the place re. multi room too. We have our new kitchen going in under the cinema/media room so will be putting in some Av kit in the there also.
