Question 150kg of airfreight arriving tomorrow!!

Hi All,

New member here, currently living and working in the Falkland Islands.

I've got a pallet of AV equipment arriving tomorrow (fingers crossed) and will be building on Friday!

System consists of:

Denon AVR-2809
Sony BDP-550 Blu Ray
Q-Acoustics 5.1 system
Optoma HD80 Projector
Beamax Manual Screen
LG 42" Plasma Screen (current)

I have a couple of questions...

1. Should I, when mounting the projector on the ceiling, aim to have the base (top, as it'll be mounted upside down) of the projector level, i.e. parallel to the floor?
(Will this minimize any keystone distortion when I come to mount the screen?)

2. I want the projector screen to fall in front of my (soon to be) wall-mounted plasma screen. Is mounting it under a well-secured shelf above the TV a good idea? (To give me the 10cm or so offset from the wall)

Thanks!

Stuart

Re: 150kg of airfreight arriving tomorrow!!

I'm by no means an expert on projecting a picture, but having had to install one in my bedroom, a few thoughts crossed my mind.

More important is that it should be 90 degrees to the wall for ultimate accuracy, if you're not going to use keystone correction.
If you think about it, the floor could be level and the wall on the p@ss or vice-versa.
Also important I would think, is Yaw. In other words, the distance from the screen to the left and right front face of the PJ itself.
Explanation of Yaw below, as I'm not sure I've made that clear;

Flight dynamics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In fact, seeing as you mentioned airfreight, perhaps that link is quite relevant and the 3 pics demonstrate all the things you should bear in mind
But I digress.

That said, perhaps I worried about it too much, in which case I'll be interested to hear what more experienced users say

I don't have a clue re: your second question, sorry.
