Lounge change around - Addition of projector.

All,

I have been looking through the forum over the last few days to help me come up with some design ideas for adding a projector to my current lounge set-up. I thought I would share my ideas before i started construction in case anyone could point out some details that I had missed.

Ok so the existing, photos below. The distance from the rear of the room is 4.3m and the room is 5mtrs wide exc. the bay with the sofa in. The ikea carcass will be retained and new doors will be fitted. The radiator will be caped and removed from the room

Please see the attached .pdf drawing of the proposed unit.

The main design aspect is that the unit is only as high as the existing door frame. This should mean the room does not get too drawn into the unit. I have notice that on most of these units they tend to go all the way to the ceiling, which in my opinion makes the room feel smaller.

The proposed projector I will be using is a mitsubishi hc5500. This will be mounted via a 1200mm metal stand positioned on the floor behind the sofa, the distance from the screen to this point is about 4m which should give me enough throw for the desired image size.

All audio will be handled via the onkyo reciever using optical connections (as it is done now) and all video will be managed by a 4x2 hdmi syncronized splitter.

The unit will be constructed of 47mmx47mm utill for the framework and 12mm mdf for the external, this will be filled and sanded before painting.

All comments welcome....
