Question Soundpoof Existing Wall

Hello all,

I currently live in an apartment.

I tend to like to enjoy the full spectrum of my sound system to it fullest however I can't really do that without annoying my neighbours.

I've been toying with the idea of soundproofing the walls/ceiling to help contain any noise however I can't exactly take apart the walls or reconstruct a new one in my current environment.

So I am wondering if anyone has any comments for applying something over top of the walls/ceilings that I do have that wouldn't be permanent.

I've looked at stuff like "Audioseal™ Sound Barrier" which, to me, would be the easiest to cover the wall with however I'm not sure it would be all that pleasant to see. Acoustic panels on the other hand would require a lot more work (and money?) to do.

Anyway just looking for ideas. I really don't know enough about this. Low cost would be ideal. I don't expect it to be perfect or anything either.

Thanks for your help!

just 5 days ago this thread was started http://www.avforums.com/forums/home-...arty-wall.html.

Still on the front page on this very same sub-forum, to make it almost impossible to miss...

Yes I read that post. Does not that require modification of the wall?

For sound isolation you need mass. In order to get the required mass you will have to modify.

Acoustical treatments may do some fine tuning of what you hear, but it will not sound proof or isolate the sound that your neighbors hear.

This is going to be an area that you either turn your music down, move or modify and install the materials required to isolate your sound.

Good luck,

Brien
