New Install

Guys,

Have moved house and the new her-in-doors has said I can do what I want with the lounge. I have my trusty PH9 plasma to hang on the wall. She has a Samsung LCD on a huge swing out bracket, I want to replace this with my universal slimline bracket and hang my PH9 on this, hoping I can use all or some of the existing holes for my bracket.

Then the fun will begin, as at the moment the cables are hanging down the wall .. far untidy for me .. I plan on channling them into the wall. What is the best way to cut say a inch or two channel into the wall?? Is there anything which will bolt onto the end of a drill ????

I plan on using trunking, inset into the channel to protect the cabling, and then plaster over this and finally pain the wall. Any help as to where to start would be much appreciated.

Regards

Re: New Install

If its a solid wall, you probably want to hire a wall chaser, a bit like this one.
Brandon - Wall Chaser Hire (Cutting and Grinding Equipment Hire)

Cut a couple of grooves and chisel out the bit where the channel will go. It's gonna be messy though......

If its pasterboard and stud, then a couple of holes and a draw wire is what you need.

Re: New Install

Chasers are OK if you doing a lot and the house is empty, mega dust generation, even with the dust extract versions. If you only have small amounts do it by hand, 5Ib lump hammer and chisel. If you have more than a couple meters then SDS drill with rotation lock so you can use as chisel.

Dupe...
