Deefadog's official dedicated cinema room (At last!!)

Here we go at last, it's taken me 6 months to get the pics together LoL.

The beginning - i had a spare room which was just full of junk for ages, the missus kept telling me to sort it out, so i thought Mmmmmm..... and the Cinema room was born after getting all the helpful information from here of course!

Now first i all, i needed to get some help in

- So i got this cheeky chappy in..

Then it was time to position the projector on the ceiling, this was a right nightmare, first of all got the projector on some boxes taped to a step ladder (no pic of that), once i had the position and size of the screen (112") we went to work.

First was to cut a hole out of the ceiling to see which way the joist went and also to see what cabling was in the way, we had a boroscope for this - one of cheeky chappy's tools

Then i cut a nice piece of wood to attach to the ceiling & joists, i had 10" screws, which i thought would do the job, but as we found out they were not as the ceiling was attached to horizontal pieces of wood, which in turn were attached to the joists - with a gap of 14"...

So in the end I just used 2 sprung bolts into the plasterboard, thank god it held well!!!

I then put some trunking along the curtain pole, which worked out really well, you can't see any cabling at all as the curtains hide them all!!!!!

Then i filled the ceiling back in and painted and got on with the screen. first a rough shot to get an idea...

Then using that wide blue masking tape (amazing stuff) i marked out the screen and painted.... i used some dark chocolate paint for the screen wall, which i used 6 tester pots, as it was very expensive for a tin LoL. And i used that dulux white reflections paint for the screen (can't remember exact name and it and it's damn to cold to go to the garage and take a look)

Next i finished painting the rest of the walls and got some wall art...

I know the Lichtenstein does not really go, but i always wanted that one and the missus will not have it up any where else (women Ughhh!!)

Then it was time for the screen border, for this i used 65mm pvc which cost around 8 quid and it's dead straight and light! After a few attempts of painting it with plasticoat black, blackboard paint etc i realised it looked rubbish and ended up getting 100mm wide Velcro loop side off an ebay company..

And that's it really, here's my equipment... PS3, Wii and a cheap surround system (which i think is great) with my old car sub (which is really effective) and of course the plannar projector

And the finished result......

It does not look like i have done much, but i am well pleased. I'll get some nice game & film shoots of the PJ in action.

Thanks! It's not got the impact of say an old Victorian house room that's almost condemned and then transformed into something from the future like you see here often LoL - But I love it!!

Next step is to get some decent speakers and wall mount them under the screen.

But the missus saw a few threads on here and now she wants a floating wall/false chimney set up in the living room

So that will keep me busy

Hi, it just a universal mount i got from ebay about 4 years ago. It's the ball joint type, so it can swivel around. Works fine, used it on my last 3 projectors!!

Yes it's very good considering it' very cheap compared to some of the set ups! am not an audio junky and i have not experienced the top end systems and don't want to incase i like them

It does help that i have swapped the sub for my 'boy racer days' car sub

I'm not either lol. I find the original sub fine and love watching films on it
