Earthing the aerial

Upstairs in the bedroom we have a cheap 10 year old Toshiba TV with a few bits like VCR, DVD and Cable box.

Lately, whenever I unplug the Aerial lead from the back of the DVD recorder, which comes from a large aerial mounted in the loft, and hold it in my hand, I will get quite a substantial static shock if I am also touching the case of the one of the bits of equipment.

Is this an earth problem and should I earth the aerial? If so, how?

Many thanks
