The speaker cable for my rear speakers currently just runs up the wall. I'm not happy about this and would like it to run inside the wall. There is space inside the wall to do this, but what im not sure about is how to feed it through. I can make a hole behind the speaker and then at the bottom, but how do I get the cable to go through and meet up with the holes?

I could be wrong on this but... you will most likely have to rout a channel in the wall bang a bit of trunking in, and then plaster over it.

It depends on if there is a firebreak in the wall, and if its insulated (outside wall). if there is no firebreak (usually two story wall)then you can make a hole at the speaker and another directly at the top of the base board and tie the wire to a weight (heavy washer, bolt, etc...) drop it in the hold and fish it out the bottom with a bent coathanger...you can then fill the holes with caulk and youll never see them, except way up close. now keep in mind there are other ways to do it but this one worked for me, and the install looked pretty clean with minimal sheetrock work.

I know there is a gap behind the plasterboard to the breeze blocks so I'm hoping I could drop it down in the gap

Hi, I've just done this for my speakers and it works for both dab/board and framework walls. Make a 7mm hole just above the skirt and another at the speaker position. Lower a small nut tied to some string into the top hole and guide it down using a magnet (a decent magnet will still attract the nut through the plaster board). That way you can move it around plaster dabs if necessary. If you come to a horizontal noggin, then you'll need to drill a hole just above and below the noggin and cut out the plaster in between, bring it out and then back in and down to exit at the skirt. Tie your speaker cable securely to the string keeping the joint as flat as possible (I looped and taped it with insulation tape) and gently pull the string from the top taking the cable with it. The plaster over the noggin can easily be filled and painted when the cable is in position. Good Luck.
