Floating "Acoustic Wall"

Hi All,

After moving into my new appartment in Denmark I was REALLY unhappy with the sound of my equipment as I have heard its potential.

It was real clear that the echoes in the room were killing the sound. So I fitted ground to ceiling curtains and also started this new floating wall project.

My Meridian dealer recommends I place the speakers in front of the most absorbent wall I can. As I didn't have one I thought I would make one.

It too around 2 days including shopping for materials. I have seen a few movies since and the difference in sound is amazing!! I can hear so much detail in the sound stage now. Everything is seamless in the sound and it isn't obvious where the sounds are coming from anymore. Just thought I would share my idea with others here who are having the same issues with sound reflections.

I am going to calibrate my processor later today and can post the before and after audio graph readings for each speaker.

Just tried to attach images....... dumb question but how do you do that???

Regards,

Carl

Starting to upholster

Starting to re wire up the system. Cable ties a plenty! I tried to attach as much to the wall as possible on hooks

The final result. It turned out pretty nice in the end. I have the light on a remote control too which just makes it a lot more easy to turn on and off as all the cables are buried behind the panels behind the center and subwoofer

Like I said before this really improved the sound so quite happy overall with the final result.

Re: Floating "Acoustic Wall"

awesome setup there mate.

have you just run all the HDMI cables along side the power ones, as in not shielded them a-such? only reason i ask is that i'm looking to run some wires in a wall of mine and i'm worried about having the cables being close together might cause interference.

Thats well nice though
