Question regarding instilation..

hey guys... this will be my first time setting up a home theater system and i have a few questions. your help would be greatly apprecited.

my house is currentlyt under renovation and i would like to install wires now while i can hide them behind walls etc... i just purchased an LCD tv which i would like to mount on my wall. i have a yamaha receiver with 4 HDMI in and 1 out. i would like to run a sony blu ray player, HIdef Cable box, and xbox 360 through the system.

i am wondering if all i have to do is run an HDMI for each component to the reciever and then just ONE HDMI to the LCD on the wall?? will that cover sound and video?? i have speaker wires already installed in the wall and a power outlet behind where the TV will be mounted. i just want to be sure of what i need before i complete renovations.

Thanks for you help

Re: Question regarding instilation..

If you want to run the TV's audio output to your AV amp then make sure you have the correct leads going from your TV in the wall.

My TV has stereo Composite out so I am running One HDMI cable from TV to AMP to take care of video and a stereo Composite lead to carry the audio from the TV into the amp.

You want the option to allow your TV's audio signal to go in the AV amp.

Re: Question regarding instilation..

I would say run 2x HDMIs and also put in 2x Coax (e.g. FT100) and 2x Cat5e

Question Re: Question regarding instilation..

Not an answer but a REQUEST FOR ADVICE FOR MYSELF.

I have two (20) toshiba DVD recorders (30gb & 160GB) that I want to cross-link for dubbing btween them and both to link to my 32" HD Samsung LCD TV.

Samsung has HDMI but the tosh's do not.

I have a paper somewhere (which I cannot find) which lists the standards in terms of quality and transfer rate.

From memory this had composite lowest followed by S-video with SCART highest quality.

Component was higher than SCART and HDMI was top of course.

I am happy to use co-ax if it will give me good quality video & sound becauase I had video TV wired to every room using very hig quality co-ax and satellite distribution system some 14 years ago. However I suspect that SCART or component connections for the back to back links will be better than co-ax.

Can one of you guru's give me some idea which connections will be me best qulity.

Thanks.
