Hey guys I just re arranged my bedroom for my new surround sound and TV.

But don't know which colour scheme to use .

I like the idea of Red/White/Black

But dunno how I would use these colours... Also like the chocolate colours with cream.

Any other suggestions and which bit what colour for example floating wall RED.. or bedding BLACK or something...

I've seen some pretty neat HT's and rooms but not sure how I would go about of putting it into my room.

Your help would be greatly appreciated ..

Colours are a personal choice. For viewing, you would ideally go darker. This could also make your room more intimate and cosy - good for a bedroom. On the other hand, if you want a more refreshing feel that is going to lead you to a lighter scheme.

What mood do you want to create and how much of a priority is the AV side of the equation?

Regarding red, black and white - personally I think these are wrong for a bedroom but if you like the look, go for it.

Well AV/Game/Computer work is pretty high as that's mainly what i'll be doing in there. I liked red/black/white but every way I tried it doesn't look right. So I wanted to try different colours haha.

Not sure what other schemes to try... and where everything would go...

Maybe Browns ?

I just don't know many that will go together nicely. Give me some ideas that you would have and maybe ill like them.

I wouldn't know what would look good IE the false wall. (Going to have rope lights or LED's behind it so idealy want that to look okay.)

I'm not surprised the red/black/white scheme doesn't work. They are great for warning signs and newspapers where you need to draw attention quickly but they are not relaxing colours together.

Ideally, the false wall should be dark to minimise distraction from the screen. Your LEDs/ropelight will help with eyestrain but don't go mad and make it look like a Christmas tree.

Painting your walls a lighter shade of the false wall (a monochrome scheme) will give some coordination. You could add an accent colour with your bedding and bits and bobs.

There are loads of inspiring schemes on this site (the Home Cinema Gallery section) and elsewhere. Home magazines will also be a good source of ideas.

Here's a useful tool that generates colours which relate to each other according to rules you can set, complementary, shades etc..

Yes, Kuler is a great tool (for web design). Can Dulux colour mixing work from RGB or Hex codes? (not that the colours would look the same as on screen)

@Scatterbug - print off a hex colour then take it into B&Q they will mix it to that colour. Once painted it may look different though.

Sorry Jay, I'm not going to recommend any colours - it's your choice. Do what I suggested - seek out some inspiration and copy something you like (have a look at Groove's thread. His floating wall is probably responsible for most others and he went for a brown/neutral/lime green accent scheme).

Matching the bed with some black/dark ash furniture (wardrobe, AV cabinet etc.) would give consistency to the room while not dictating wall colour. If you like black/charcoal then fine - Kryptix has a similar scheme in his lounge setup. You could inject some colour with things like your bedding and pictures.

Edit: your sofa is black as well? I'd say bright accents are essential then.

How about getting some testers and painting some large pieces of card and seeing how they look in the room? Sketchup is too blunt a tool for choosing colours.

This is what I went for.

Crown Chocolate Suede on the floating wall and Dulux Natural Wicker on everything else (apart from ceiling which is white of course!). Is very warming I think

Mitsi, Aww I do love chocolate rooms, Only problem is the sofa which is going to be black unless i can convince to get chocolate hehe :D Nice btw Mitsi i will probably lean towards chocoalte more now :D.

Edit: What colour flooring and carpet im assuming Mitsi?

Carpet is a neutral cream/oatmeal type colour. Will get some photos of it for you over the weekend. Thanks for the comments!
