Question perspex / acrylic sound proofing

ok experts and enthusiasts, need your opinions and advice on following:

i've got an atacama equinox stand. it's an open stand, so noise generated by my equipment eminates fully to the environment. (my amp makes a buzzing/humming sound and my pvr's disk makes a boiler/heater type of sound, neither loud but annoying because i have to sit fairly close).

at first, i was considering moving the equipment to an adjacent room as i had done for my very noisy htpc. however, the noise for these pieces didn't justify/warrant the price factor of cabling 7 speaker leads and numerous video cables over 15 metres and inconvenience of losing the lcd displays on my equipment.

my second idea was to house each equipment within acryllic pc cases. i've found some without psu, etc. but never large enough. (even if the equipment were to fit, there would be very little breathing room, if any.)

i'm now considering boxing in the entire stand in some acrylic "cube", so basically transparent plastic sheets joined to form a box. (a bit like a valuable showcase item at a museum) any recommendations on brand, manufacturer, supplier would be appreciated. i haven't been able to find anything ready made (ikea, argos, etc. type places), don't mind basic diy but the less the better.

the dimensions to envelope are: 65cm w x 65cm d x 50cm h

Re: perspex / acrylic sound proofing

Hmmm, sounds like an interesting plan. Have you considered heat issues?
