Hi. Does anyone know of a 13 amp outlet socket with battery backup,to use with a video projector, in the event of a power cut. Any information will most welcome. Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for that. I don't think the power output is enough on that. The projector needs 280 W.

I'd suggest you look at the APC smart UPS 1000 or 1500 this should give you a good half hour or morw on battery for your projector.

My only question is why do you want the projector on in a power cut?? seeing as you won't get any source video or audio it seems a tad pointless to me??

Normally its just to allow the fans to cool the bulb ie when power drops you have to start PJ shut down manually then UPS runs the fans until bulb temp is safe also the power drop out can reset the bulb timer so when power comes on the bulb comes on in a HOT state and blows the UPS will keep the timer runing for a while. TO me if you have a stable supply the cost of the UPS over the bulb makes it fairly pointless on most cheaper units

Hi. Thanks again for that. Well yes it was to protect the projector in the event of a power cut, and let me shut it down, because i though the heat from the lamp would cause damage the the components inside. The projector is JVS DLA-HD1 and was quite a lot of money. Thanks. Joe.

Nothing to stop you using one of these UPS and running a wire from it to the socket. This way the UPS and all wiring can be hidden.

An APC unit will cost upwards of £200. A cheaper brand or generic one can be had for £30-40 it will easily provide power for the 30sec it would take to power down the projector. Well worth it if it saves a £200 bulb from breaking.

To run some a projector at 280W for about 5 minutes you'll need something at least 500VA. so it depends on how long it takes your projector to cool down but you'll need something bigger than the product you entioned just to provide the nessecary 280W.
