Attaching plasma to a dab wall

I looking to attach a 50" plasma TV to a dab wall and looking for some advice.
The wall is 12mm of plasterboard, with dabs of adhesive roughly the size of your fist, 12mm void and then masonry.

Having read through Groove's install of his floating wall set up he uses heavyweight anchor bolts bought from B&Q.
Thread link - http://www.avforums.com/forums/home-...l-build-2.html

However, Groove's wall is solid with no plasterboard. Are these bolts likely to do the job for me if I drill through into the masonry beyond the void and anchor them there?

Cheers

Rigifix is the perfect product for this,

http://www.avforums.com/forums/custo...-mounting.html

search the forum for rigifix

you only need 4 good fixings, so a pack of 6 is plenty. M6 size are big enough.

I have them on my website.

Re: Attaching plasma to a dab wall

I have fitted a 47" screen to a dabbed wall with rawl bolts. When the wall was put up extra dabbing was placed around the screen area.
But that may not be necessary.
Rawl bolts are the way to go though.
Get bolts that just fit but not tight (you need a bit of slack) into your mounting frame. Use a quality masonary drill to make the holes.
Screwfix is around £2.60 per pack of 5, I used 8x 8mm x 90mm.
Do not drill the hole too deep just enough so the rawl fits and most of all make sure you drill true and straight.

Re: Attaching plasma to a dab wall

Rawlbolts will compress the plasterboard if there is a gap.

Rigifix puts no load on the plasterboard as the gap is bridged.

Re: Attaching plasma to a dab wall

I can heartedly recommend the rigifix and the prompt service from Marks website, I used mine to hang a very heavy radiator on exactly the same type of wall as you describe.
Excellent product.

Re: Attaching plasma to a dab wall

I require some advice on what size rigifix fixings to get for my 50 inch plasma .
The holes in the bracket is about 9mm which I got from M-formonline .
I don't know if to go for the M6 or M8 fixings.
The M6 will give me room for adjustment so the bracket is level .
I would go for the M8 but am concerned that the size of the holes I would need to drill ( 16mm for the M8 ).
Also how many would I need to use ?

Re: Attaching plasma to a dab wall

Just to follow up on the plasma mounting. The bolts supplied by Mark Grant did the job with minimum fuss.

I've now got a 42" Panny Pv500 attached that weighs 40kg and it ain't going anywhere, very secure.

Probably going to upgrade to the Panny 50" PZ80 soon which actually weighs 2 kilos less so no problem there!

Thanks all for guidance and to Mark for a great product.

You won't need M8s. I used 8 M6 bolts for a 40kg TV. M8s I reckon would be overkill.

Re: Attaching plasma to a dab wall

Quick update , I used 6 M6 rigifix fixings on the bracket and I must say these fixings are very good . Being very worried about the plasma coming away from the wall or even worse falling these are fixings gave me great confidence that it wouldn't .They are very easy to install and would recommend these to any one even if they didn't have a dab wall .
