Problem with ropelight

Hi,
I've got a problem with my ropelight and was wondering if anyone else has had it.
The problem is simple. The ropelight (From T.L.C) is only a few months old, and some of the lights are burning the plastic, turning it brown. The lights are on for an average of 6hrs a night.

I'm not into rope lights myself but are they 220V or possibly 110V? If they are 110 they will burn a lot brighter and hotter.

Definatley ask TLC matey and as Bob has just said if they have sent you 110v. ones that would explain whats happening

Thanks for quick reply's guys. Have checked and it's 240v.
Will have to get in touch with Tlc see what they have to say

My mum and dad have had the same ropelight in there lounge for about 5 years and it has gone brown almost all the way around (probably 20m+) but there havent been any other issues. I wouldnt over worry if I were you, but do keep an eye on it.

Hi

To update you on dodgy ropelight.
Have just rung Tlc and spoken to very nice man Nigel. He put me on to Skytronic who are the distributors of said ropelight (0845 2703537 Tech Dept). Explained problem and they said possibly a faulty section of rope.
Rang back Tlc who offered a replacement straight away, no quibbles and no charges for posting. I offered to send back old one so they could see for themselves,but told not to worry about it. Expecting delivery on Mon/Tues.
For once I'm very impressed with customer service. Wish they were all this good.
