Ok so lets see what DIY injuries people have had; both funny and serious.

I for one yesturday whilst installing my speaker wall mounts realised trying to remove a drill bit straight after lengthy usage = pain! Stupid mistake but i forgot to let it cool and it hurt my finger pretty bad. Thankfully no blister/scar

I tried to saw off my left arm yesterday with a hand saw. I was cutting a small piece of plywood for my bathroom floor, thinking the next step would be to start tiling and the saw jumped out of the wood and landed on my forearm on the backstroke...I got out of that and I've been on the forums most of the weekend instead.

Last year I fell backwards off a ladder and landed on a tin of roofing felt adhesive, cracking two ribs and ended up off work for two weeks.

My missus thinks I'm like the Kenny Everett 'DIY man'. I'm normally pretty good with DIY but I seem to be having a bad run of self harm. I wouldn't dare become a Lumberjack.

Im known as 'fingers' at work as I always seem to knick my fingers with stanley knives etc when working. The same happens when DIYing!

Some classics there guys!

For my daft one, I was taking out an old cast iron bath. I was hitting it with a mash hammer to break it, when I managed to get a BIG lump to fall out of the bottom, directly onto my foot. OK, don't laugh, I was wearing slippers

That was of course followed by several lacerations as I tried to carry the bits downstairs - think Final Destination.

Joking aside, we don't want to see anybody hurt, so if you read this, learn the easy way, not the hard way

Ive worked on sites in countries where the locals take steel toecapped boots and then cut the back off them to make safety slip-ons! Genius!

the serious one
my retired boss sliced his hand clean off, it was that fast he didnt event realise he'd cut it off until he looked down and saw the hand on one side of the saw and his bloody stump on the other

at the time i suppose it was no laughing matter, but it was a good recovery and didnt prevent him from continuing to work

the stupid one
was veneering some edges, had got the iron out left it unplugged on the bench and was shouted through to the front of the shop to give some advice, someone had plugged the iron in and i just picked it up from the front burning all my hand, for some unknown reason it didnt trigger with me that the iron was hot until i'd tried crossing to the other side and the plug yanked and i just put it down and turned to the other guy there and said "you know that irons mighty hot"

Oooo lots, latest one. was asked to put a plug top on an IEC extension.
Problem was that the lad upstairs was told the same thing and duly cut of the IEC for his plug top.............lol
Guess who got the live end,im sure my fillings are still glowing.

I forgot one of my other DIY injuries in my earlier post: I was folding up some old copper pipes to put them in the skip and somehow the top swung round at my head, lucky my specs protected my eye, but I got a big slice through my eyebrow and a black eye that lasted a week.

When I do DIY the only damage caused is to anything within arms reach when it all starts to go wrong...
